Re: Out Of office

So, this week we're not publishing new podcast episode, and it's for a good reason: We're both going on vacation for the first time since Presence Agency was started, over a year ago. Now, you might be thinking "Kelsey. I call bullshit. Your Instagrams show that you two have been all over this year," and you would be totally correct. We've built Presence around a shared love/obsession with seeing the world, and we love working on projects in Miami and Brooklyn, but while you might see the gorgeous sunset shot, what you're not seeing is the anxiety of an on-the-go office setup in the hotel room.

The truth is, entrepreneurs are NOT good at taking time off. There's a stigma that you have to be a shark- keep swimming (working) or else you'll die (die). But we don't want to be sharks. We want to be balanced, badass and focused business ladies, and while it is hard to walk away from ongoing projects, it's also important to us to let the emails go to auto-responder and take some time to reset after an amazing but incredibly stressful year. The science backs us up on this- it is actually detrimental to your health NOT to take some time off.

"AS MY GRANDMOTHER WAS FOND OF SAYING, "THERE'S NEVER A GOOD TIME TO GET MARRIED, HAVE A BABY OR GO ON VACATION."

In the span of three weeks this fall, we're programming Taste Talks Brooklyn, producing two more Dell x Northside Innovation Meetups in Chicago and Miami and then producing Taste Talks Chicago in October. We've barely had time to think, and that can be bad for a young company. When things started getting crazy, we decided earlier this year that it would actually be better for our business to take some time off this summer to completely disconnect. We challenge you to do the same- find some time to turn it all off and focus on regaining perspective.

It might be surprising, but Mal and I are going on SEPARATE vacations. You can follow our adventures together-but-apart on instagram with hashtag #Icestanbul. If you really miss us, you can RSVP to the next Zest Meetup on July 7th, or catch up to the sultry tones of our voices on the podcast.  Be back soon!
